Marysa Jane's First Review is out.

This is so exciting for me! My store has been slow opening and I hope this gives us some traffic. Dreams do come true if you work hard enough.

Chicks Day 3

One of my girls did not look so good this morning. I fear she may be slipping away. She was laying all spralled out and eyes sealed shut. I could hold her with out any struggling and she will lay on her back in my palm. This is so heart breaking that something so small and sweet may not get a chance to live a full chicken life. My kids call her DeeDee after DeeDee Ramon. ( The Romones are my husbands influence on my children.)
This is DeeDee. Looking a little better than I found her this morning.

Sally on the other hand is fiesty. She wil jump into my hand and eat food. She pecks at my finger nails runs all through our make shift brooder. I am kind of nervous Sally may be a rooster. Only time will tell.
This is perky little Sally.

I called the feed store when I picked up the tiny girls on Saturday. The guy told me some times chicks just don't make it. He told me I could come down and pick up another chick. They don't have any more buff Brahmas but there where a lot of pullets to choose from. I choose a whit crested black Polish. For now I'll call her Blacky since my children has not met her yet.

Our new white crsted black Polish. Two days old.

This is what she should look lke full grown.

Happy Step Mother Day

Today is Stepmother's Day. Whether you celebrate it or not, we hope you remember that Hallmark cards and organized celebrations do not define who you are, or the amazing things of which you are capable. Strive not to be recognized, but to be deserving of recognition. Sleep well at night knowing you do the right things, you take the high road and in the end, you make a difference. Copied from Stepmom Magazine's FBpost

I'm proud to be a step mother. It's like no other bond. Embrace it. You are not Cinderella's step mother. Let your heart grow natural and the bond will come. Don't give up. I love my step daughter and I'm proud to say we are friends. ~Mary

Mother's Day happened for me today

Across the country last weekend mothers were celebrated. For this Mama of a blended family of 5 I chose to wait until I had all my kids home with me. Last week my daughter wanted to spend the day with her paternal Grandmother she is very close to and my step daughter with her own Mother.

Well today it was all about me. My hubs got up early and got me Starbucks coffee. We laid around until around ten, then as a family we all went to the Oakland Zoo. Sure we go there a lot, but not a lot with my hubs. This made it all the more special to me. Somehow my kids must share my love of animals since they never seem to tire of zoos.

The kids for the most part where well behaved. Some trouble with Joe at first but we have come to expect that. He's not the kind of child that adapts well to a change in routine. Halfway through the day Sonny -- who gives us two kinds of challenges at any given time -- gave us the manic, overly tired four-year-old routine. This is when he stops listening, runs off and behaves poorly. But things worked out. I followed him and the hubs looked at animals with the other four children, then we traded. When it became too much he neatly fit right into my Ergo Baby backpack, where he becomes a cuddler and calms down.

Not a typical day, but a good one. As I may have mentioned before I am in love with my family. Please enjoy some of our zoo photos.

A Sun Bear. Super cute. My kids favorite.

The alligators fence always freaks me out because of how short it is. I don't worry the alligators will get out, but I worry my boys would try to climb it if given a chance.

Joey patting a Pygmy goat he had been chasing.

Declan singing and jumping. This child has music in his soul.

I could have touched the wallabies. There is no fence and the train was stopped waiting for an emu to get off the tracks.Very cool experience.

This one goes out to my hubs

My hubs is my best friend. Don't tell him I told you but he is the kindest man I have ever met. He likes to be surly and mean. The part I love best is he loves me. This weekend he proved it once again. My sweetie told me to go get the chicks. As some of my readers know this has been my obsession for longer than not.

Meet the girls. DeeDee and Sally. Out new buff Brahmas.

Here is what they should look like full grown.
